    Funny you should ask that, Toby. We were just batting that ball around yesterday. I argued that, for reasons to feel sorry for us, we could look at our cost of health care versus the outcomes we get for all that money. We have a shorter life expectancy, and a much higher infant mortality rate, than any other 1st world country.

    There are Louisiana parishes that are on the U.N.’s list of the poorest places on earth. That fact should sicken all of us.

    How about a positive spin? Toby feels loved, well cared for, and happy. He is developing a sense of compassion for others which will lead to an urge to do good things for others. Toby is cause for hope.

    Because the news focus is mostly on the bad. None is interested if another country has reached a new milestone in development, freedom, health. So unless you go read local articles on the net all you hear about them are the bad news.
