I changed my diet dramatically 7 yrs ago when I was in allot of pain. My room mate, a nurse, suggested I research food that contributes to and prevents inflammation. I later learned that it likely protected me from pancreatic related disease, which 3 of my family members had died from (pancreatic cancer). A side result was going from size 18 to size 6. (I only weigh myself at the doctor’s)
Nearly 30 years ago, a doctor told me that I had high cholesterol and even higher triglycerides, and I MIGHT live as much as 10 years longer than my dad did – he died of a massive heart attack at 48.
He gave me a list of foods to avoid, and foods to eat, and told me that if I followed that diet I might even make it to 60!
On the way home, I stopped at a fast food place and got a couple 1/4 pound bacon cheeseburgers.
Funny thing is, normally I might have made a meal of a medium order of fries, or a pint of shrimp fried rice. I REBELLED!! And got sick from all the grease…
Oh, and my current doctor says that my dad’s heart attack was most likely caused by high blood pressure that I DON’T have, my cholesterol and triglycerides are a touch high most of the time but not too bad, the COPD they tried to stick on me was just a slight allergy, and I will probably live well past retirement age.
Or get hit by a bus tomorrow, who knows? The moral is: Don’t let a diagnosis get you down, don’t sweat they occasional dietary naughtiness, and remember to LIVE your life. Of course, this strip shows you doing the last.

Sugar addiction is the hardest (and most satisfying) to kick.
