“Tadeo” was one of the names I gave myself in collegiate Spanish class; previous year was “Santiago” and the following year was “Bartolomé” (probably to go with the theme of the twelve Apostles). As for high school Spanish, I was “Ricardo.” Anyway, never heard of the names Eberardo nor Nemesio before.

Change Baldo to Baldy, ‘cause you’re going to look like your Dad.

Some Spanish names have different connotations when pronounced in English. My friend Luz radiates light in Spanish, but is a “loose”woman in English.

Why would they ever consider Yago? So people could tease him with a cartoon parrot?

So, gocomics webmaster, did you get a nice big raise for doubling your clicks by putting in the annoying ’Overview" that show nothing but a center panel of the days comic to make the viewers click out of it to actually see the comic?

But Dad never did answer the question. “Why did you choose ‘Baldomero’?” "Because we decided on ‘Baldomero.’ "

Why was Richie Petrie’s middle name “Rosebud?”

I didn’t know what Baldo meant if anything and like several others have said Bald-o sounds like a nick name for old bald guy. So does Baldomero mean anything? I love this comic, it’s one of my top 5 faves but wish his name was something like Antonio or Gustavo, or something. Gracie and Tia Carmen Are my favorite characters.

Wait, is “Baldomero” a real Spanish name? And if so, why wouldn’t one make one’s nickname “Mero?”
