The rest of the world may have their share of angry white males but when it comes to stupid white males, “We’re Number One! We’re Number One!”

We have an acquaintance – not a friend, thank you – who honestly believes “more guns mean less violence”. I pointed to Australia, and he pointed to Switzerland. “Every man in Switzerland owns a gun.” Yes, and those guns are issued , and owned, by the government, and you must present them once a year and explain why you are missing ammo. He pitched a fit and walked away.

If people want to do something about gun violence, they need to vote against the politicians that get the great ratings from the NRA. Compared to other lobbying groups, the NRA really doesn’t spend that much, they use their ratings to intimidate the pols that vote to control guns at all.

The US used to be the best – the rest of the world has passed us in education, healthcare, gun massacres and work-life with maternity and paternity leaves, vacation and child care. Why is it that a minority of regressives want the rest of us to suffer so much?

When I was going to school we used to have drills in case of an atomic bomb attack. Today kids have drills in case a nut case starts shooting at them. Sickening turn of events.

The way to solve this gun problem is to make schools with windows that open so the kids can jump out of them and escape…..

A gun is just a tool, that in this case was used improperly by an estranged and mentally ill person to commit a crime. Weapons are not designed for that. There are COUNTLESS rifle that are simi-auto that can accept extended magazines. You should not pick on the AR-15 or ANY other weapon a person can own. Do all the background checks you want. If a person shows ANY red flags during a purchase, the person who looked at the reports and still sells to a mentally disturbed individual. You will NEVER be rid of the weapons that made this country and defended it.

Did Russia infiltrate the NRA? Did the NRA launder Russian money for Trump? If the answer to these questions is yes, then the problem of guns in America—and why we can’t seem to discuss it, address it or solve it–starts to make more sense.

The rest of the world has something we don’t. Video game addiction treatment programs. They recognize the danger.

The rest of the world has these things, yes. And we’ve had these things for decades, centuries even… So what is changed? Why has this become an issue, why are 4400 murders nationwide headline news?

The rest of the world knows that they are unlikely (in Japan, Australia, England at least) to be one of the 4400 murdered with a firearm. They also know they are more likely to be raped, Robbed, home invaded or their car jacked…People in the empty gun utopias know they also aren’t going to be one of the 55,000 people successfully defended themselves from harm thanks to their firearm. You don’t get something for nothing.

As mentioned in a reply to an early comment, Switzerland and Swiss citizens are an excellent example of an armed citizenry you don’t suffer this horrible affliction. I don’t suppose anybody would agree that that is due to education, training and supervision? That’s the direction I believe we should go.

^ Education? Are you out of your mind? What a terrible thought. All good Conservatives know that education is evil. That’s because it’s always taught by Liberals!
