Val: Mom, what's happened to Holly??
SLAM
Val: She used to be so cooperative, cheerful, OPEN...

Gramma Evie & Alix: WHEN?!
Val: In my dreams, I guess.
Lets see, newly dealing with raging hormones, new boy in life, knowingly illicit rendezvous with same at the mall on a school night only to be interrupted by ‘domineering’ mother …
How many doors are there in the house that can be slammed? Better put a call in to the “Home Handyman Hotline”, some work is bound to be needed!
I went someone through this with my daughter. Only difference is she didn’t like the town we lived in and wanted an escape. Now we are in a bigger area she doesn’t go as much though has half a house full of exercise equipment. Mom’s daughters do grow out of it. Hopefully finds someone or goes to college and matures more.

The curse ALWAYS evolves: may you have daughter like you or worse!!
now idk if it’s only hormones or just the boundary thing,
She started at 11 n is continuing at 18 though it’s not as bad as the first 5 years… I’m hoping n praying she mellows out soon!!
My brother is sometimes difficult as a teenager (even more than when he was a kid), but I’m not willing to give up on him. Any Oregon town, big or small, is well-connected, so we always look out for each other.

I’ve got about three more years until my daughter starts doing the Holly bit.
I’m going to enjoy these years …

When interrupting a date, should expect these troubling times….

I don’t think Val is any kind of idiot, she just hopes for the best. And Holly’s not a total jerk, but needs reining in sometimes.

I’m glad I only have boys!

Why is it that this culture blames any problem on the mom? Kids test boundaries, that’s all.

Time for the mothers’ curse. LOL May you have a child just like you. Hmmm was Val like this??

The constant slamming of doors would NOT have been acceptable or permitted in my home when I was that age nor when my son was either!
