And when city folks can’t go to the country without marveling that there are acres and acres of farm land that produce their food it’s the same.
I’ll take the country any day. We have 3 acres of land, our own garden, plenty of fruit trees, solitude, miles of hiking trails at my back door……Yup. I’ll take it any day of the week. My “suburban” and country schools perform far better at every measure than those city schools too.
Although I can understand their sentiment, I find it sad that being a “hick” is thought of so negatively. I would imagine a stalwart urbanite, going into a natural setting would look up at the amazing beauty of the trees, mountains, etc. because he/she does not or has not seen them often. I would hope the suburban/rural folks would not sneer at them in disdain for doing so. In a similar vein, I would think it natural (and encouraged) for folks not used to skyscrapers and the inherent beauty in the architecture of an urban environment should look at that new found beauty around them.

Weird place to put a pool. Who came up with THAT idea? Or maybe we’re looking at this town through a Snapchat filter.

I remember when they would just climb into a very clean urban sewer to get a subterranean view without any judgment as being from the hoi polloi…sigh!
