    Nailed it. It’s not about loyalty or subservience to the flag — it’s about loyalty to the Constitution. That’s what makes this nation special. Anyone who insists on worshiping the flag at the expense of Constitutional rights is a tyrant, and should be addressed as such.

    What is unusual about the current administration is mentioned in this article … the lack of understanding of the workings of government is usually associated with the younger generations not the people Trump’s age. Why does he have issues?

    For Trump, “loyalty” to the flag and constitution is just a tool to manipulate his base.

    Former Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka: “The left has no idea how much more damage we can do to them as private citizens.”

    Trump is not taking a knee against the Constitution, he is taking a knee because everyone is treating him so very poorly. No other president has been treated so unfairly. Just ask him.

    Gorka is right, most have no clue of exactly how MUCH damage Donnie and his minions can do to private citizens – but SOME of us are students of history and have an all-too-clear picture of what can happen here! The whole concept of “It can’t Happen Here!” is a philosophy embraced by morons, imbeciles and idiots!

    Remember, Herr Drumpf thinks the Constitution is what HE says it is at the moment…

    My take on kneeling to the flag, in the sense done by NFL players:•Sitting on the sidelines while playing the national anthem and portraying the flag is passive, takes you out of the picture – It’s an “I’m not in it” gesture”.•Kneeling to the flag ceremony means you are in the game, a participant, an American citizen showing respect (especially if you still place your hand over your heart) but also choosing to signify a problem. In the NFL current situation kneeling represents the dissonance is how black Americans are sometimes treated and viewed by police officers. You may agree or disagree, as is your right and as is protected by the Constitution, but we are all Americans.•Kneeling under the flag is PROTECTED by what the flag represents – the right to protest, the right to choose how you protest, the right to free speech, the right to your own view in a democracy, the right to be yourself, the right to be an American with all the American Flag represents, as expressed in the Constitution and its continued evolvement as intended by the founders. This is what the flag represents. How fortunate to be an American.•I fought for America, I’m a Veteran, I believe in what the American Flag stands for, in a country of diverse people and beliefs. I fought for mine and your right to kneel as a form of protest under the American Flag, representing America under the Constitution – unlike many other countries where a simple wrong gesture, wrong word, wrong belief, wrong religion, wrong color, or wrong gender can be grounds for censure, prosecution or even death.•Proud to be an American where the flag waves true.

    Didn’t he take an oath to maintain and protect the constitution? If he refuses to do that, can we have the SOB (hey, he implied that it is perfectly ok to use the term in public) impeached?

    @BO:

    Words have power. Ask the Tutsis in Rwanda. Or, as the Hutus called them on state-controlled radio, cockroaches.

    “Because the NFL protests are against their contracts”. Their contracts? Is that supposed to make ANY sense?

    No one is saying Trump doesn’t have the right to outright lie. Doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Trump’s blatherings are the verbal equivalent of farting in a crowded elevator.

    Brass Orchid…your man Trump calls anything that is negative toward himself a lie. You can’t call everything a lie,and have folks believing you. Just check Politico regarding the “lies” your man Trump has said.

    The Rump is an embarrassment to the Presidency and to the US of A.
