Man, we are on a run of white polka dots on purple fabric like I’ve never seen before. But I’m a relative newcomer. What say the true habitues of Ballard Street?
Dennis, and anybody interested… it’s very difficult for me, too, to get current updates….
The fire department has said they’re too busy to issue regular bulletins; the newspaper crews are spread thin.
Meanwhile, the fire burns on, still regarded as “uncontrolled” , though I did read a report saying they were managing to prevent it from moving south (towards town, and past that, my neighborhood) as long as the wind didn’t turn that direction.
A lot of local businesses are closed, cos employees can’t come in…. even a lot of fire crew lost their own homes.
The sky is still yellow, only a bit less so….
and I try to tell myself the smoky air is like the autumns of my Midwestern childhood, with neighbors burning leaves and lighting fireplaces.
I can give you a link to our local paper:

Beware…. I think they must use automated keyword search to find “related articles” … so some links to more “news” turn out to be years old.
From my days of being part of the pirate gun crew aboard the privateer Meka II (you can look that up), There was no finer smell than after we let Georgie ( as we so fondly referred to the converted Lyle gun) do our introductions to some unsuspecting and unfortunate vessles. So I can understand Stan’s pleasure.

Anyway…
I meant to post this first…..
Apologies to HappyHappyHappy…
And what will soon become a slightly belated HappyHappyHappy Birthday! to you!
I knew your birthday was the 10th.
In all the excitement and turmoil of the fire and related news, plus phone calls and e-mails,
what I totally forgot was that to make it show up for the 10th, I needed to post it the evening of the 9th.
It’s still the 10th now, where I am, and where you are…
so for the moment… hope you’re having a great day…
er…evening!
Anybody who wants to join me in raising a glass for a birthday toast to Happyᵌ please do!
