Well fundamentally, it is about creating value for someone else. The key is that the OTHER person gets to decide whether what you have done represents value and then they pay you for it if they want it at a mutually agreed price.
I work for a global engineering consulting firm – vital work that continues regardless. I find it hard to sympathize with people who can no longer entertain the fads of the idle rich.
