Dee Dee’s mistake was implying that the alleged attraction between Nate and Gina was mutual.

Dee Dee only knew that Nate was following Gina around, kneeling in front of her, etc. A reasonable (though incorrect) inference would be that Nate likes Gina. But assuming that Gina also likes Nate requires a second leap of logic, since there was no evidence whatsoever of that.

In panel 3, Gina’s ponytail sticks up straight just like a skunk does before it shoots its noxious spray.
