When I was a child in the summertime, my feet were so tough from going barefoot that going across hot asphalt did not bother me. Neither did hot sand at the beach, or even gravel driveways. Now that I am older, I never go out without shoes on.

Don’t you wish you put shoes on? I never go out without them.

We used to pop the tar bubbles with our big toes.

I’m older and I still go barefoot as much as I can.

If you were on the side where your house is, then you did not need to do that and now, you might have to do it again.

I am afraid that diabetes forces me to wear shoes, special ones all the time.
