I think ‘the Cloud’ can generally be considered reliable (as much as any human enterprise can be considered reliable). The companies that own such storage space make backups and have other protections in place to keep their clients’ data safe. That said, I recently worked for a company where the IT department was so incompetent that they made a total disaster of multiple attempts to transfer all our local data from our office server to the Cloud.

Important stuff also gets backed up locally, because clouds evaporate.
