Wouldn’t running make him healthier, and thus move faster?

Whenever someone tells me that old line, I usually reply, “How many times have you told someone that and you still expect it will change their behavior?”

Athletes all repeat the same basic action over and over in hopes of doing it better each time. Are they all insane?

Insanity, which is a legal idea, isn’t doing the same thing to get different outcomes. Which works by-the-way. It is a fallacy. So a big black mark today for Frazz for using a myth that so many think is true.

So is Frazz’s lecture to Mr. Burke because…

    a) Mr. Burke isn’t training hard enough? (Mr. Burke used to be obese, but slimmed down because of a “Frazz-inspired training regimen”)

    b) Taking a leaf from Mrs. Olsen’s book that all that exercise is a bit pointless?

    c) Just trying to score a point over someone?

Because I can’t see any other reason that a “friend” would treat someone like that. (At least he’s hanging out with people his own age, this time…)

[pedantry on] The observation “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results” is mistaken. That’s not the definition of insanity, it’s an example of it. There are many more. [pedantry off]

Umm…..perhaps since this is a COMIC STRIP, because he says he’s doing the same thing expecting different results, maybe the JOKE is that Frazz is admitting that he’s no more or less sane than most of the rest of us? You know, like a JOKE you might find in a COMIC STRIP (unless you are determined not to find one)? Honestly, this strip should have a warning for the humor impaired and irony deficient.
