So 2/3 of the workers are wopmen? Ted ignores that men may be reluctant to socialize in case something they say or do is misconstrued. I’m not saying there is no reason, just that it DOES go both ways.
It may go both ways, but there is NO question that the largest burden is borne by women. The men I have heard expressing discomfort that they “might say the wrong thing” are quite often people casually offering up sexist crap and sexual innuendo. It’s really not that difficult to engage in a way that is not harassment!
I agree but I would add the term “by far” . It’s not that hard to look a woman in the eyes instead of staring down her shirt and engage with her intellect. That is, if your large head controls you rather than the small one. The term “male chauvinist pig” was coined for a good reason.
With some men, “hitting” on a woman is SOP. Not an office, by any means, but: My car died on the road in the middle of an absolute downpour. I managed to drift off the road, and then slogged to the nearest building, which happened to be a bar. Before I could put my quarter in the payphone, some cretin left the pool table as sidled over to me. Dripping wet, my hair in my face, and he’s making passes! Yetch.
This is Trump’s America. These are the options for women to advance in this conservative utopia. I’m sure there will be laws soon that will protect CEOs from women.
Well, I count three sexist pigs so far, who assume that men don’t have to change their behavior, but women do.
Folks, there’s a very easy way to test sexism. Take any statement that includes genders, and reverse it. Would you ever hear that sentence? If not, it’s sexist.
For example, see @AlbertaOil’s comment above. Here it is, reversed:“I suspect a good number of men use their sexual appeal to get that promotion.. at the expense of a better qualified woman.”
How often have you heard THAT statement? Never? Then it’s sexist, folks!
It is decidedly NOT equal, it is decidedly NOT both ways.
Women often socialize with other women that they work with. That tends to leave men out of the loop. The key is being able to socialize without referring to sexuality. Having a drink after work with “one of the guys” is easier to explain to one’s wife than having a drink after work with “one of the women I work with”. That’s what needs sorting out a bit.
Men often socialize with other men that they work with. That trends to leave women out of the loop. The key is being able to socialize without referring to sexuality. Having a drink after work with “one of the girls” is easier to explain to one’s husband than having a drink after work with “one of the men I work with”. That’s what needs sorting out a bit.

Follow the Pence rule; a man can only be in the room with another woman if his wife/mother is with him.
