Americans don’t want to do it because it’s meaningless.

Yes, you have a point. We pick the worst and the second-worst person to be president, then have to choose between them.

The repubs love it when the voter turnout is low. That’s why they try to make voting more difficult. .They also love it when someone says that it is meaningless.

I’m telling you mandatory voting like Australia, combined with a limited campaign time and independently determined districts and you might have something.

    “Trust me, I’m from Diebold”.

I still vote, but I recognize that it’s probably a waste of time.

In 241 years,we have done noting to prevent the corrupt from being eligible to hold office. We truly get the government we deserve. We know what to do, yet whine and complain and take no action (hint: we need a grass roots movement; it isn’t going to originate in Congress)

About 10 years ago, Ohio held a contest to come up with competitive districts. The winner was a Republican from Wisconsin, whose districts were judged VERY competitive. Of course, Ohio took no action.

The ancient Romans probably complained the same way as THEIR empire crumbled.

Rall has spent years telling us our votes are meaningless. Why change now?

I suppose individual votes are statistically meaningless, geography tends to decide what party is in charge locally. My governor, congress critter and senator, Patty Murray, are all dems, I live in a blue bubble.

President Trump’s Voter-fraud commission wants to know everything about voters, it will be easier to send it to Russia when it is all bundled in one spreadsheet.

The United States Probably Has More Foreign Military Bases Than Any Other People, Nation, or Empire in History

And it’s doing us more harm than good.

    By David Vine

While there are no freestanding foreign bases permanently located in the United States, there are now around 800 US bases in foreign countries. Seventy years after World War II and 62 years after the Korean War, there are still 174 US “base sites” in Germany, 113 in Japan, and 83 in South Korea, according to the Pentagon. Hundreds more dot the planet in around 80 countries, including Aruba and Australia, Bahrain and Bulgaria, Colombia, Kenya, and Qatar, among many other places. Although few Americans realize it, the United States likely has more bases in foreign lands than any other people, nation, or empire in history.
