What’s with all the agression in this thread? Kick her? Step on her tail? Are you people serious? It’s a cat, walk around her, go slightly out of your way for two seconds. It’s not harmful, I promise.
I don’t know any cat that would sleep in the middle of a public sidewalk because a dog might come by, but in the middle of the living room rug, that’s a possibility…

Cats have been doing this so long that nobody really notices. Now, when a pond full of koi pull the same trick, it’s a different story.

Cats have right of ownership of all horizontal surfaces. You walk around them, step over them, or fold your body to fit the remaining space.
