Gene: We wanted out of the restaurant business, because it was brutal! So we started farming, which is worse! Now, it looks like we're going to do both! That’s how it is when you work for yourself and not on a salary or wage. Not having the assurance of a wage (even if it is specious) that you can make next month’s bills leaves one feeling forever on the edge of disaster and faced with impossible tasks to survive. The big question is always, why do we do it? The answer is that sometimes a combination clicks and the lucky people realize that they won’t fall off the edge for the next 200 years at least. But the really creative ones then buy huge homes, cars, boats and airplanes and manage to get right back on the edge of the abyss again.
