Yup. They have the perfect picture for tv. A rectangular field for a rectangular tv yet they are constantly focusing off the field. And the worst is when they show the announcers. Why do we want to see them? Or fans in the stands?
I used to do that when I watched the Tiger games. I preferred the radio announcers to the TV announcers (who were so boring!) that I’d turn on the radio and TV to watch the game.
Daddy used to do this – or he would have one game playing on the television with the sound muted and a different game he was interested in playing on the radio.

My first wife’s father used to do that way back in 1970! He couldn’t stand the tv announcers.

The problem is, the tv stations have figured that out and are delayed 15 seconds. You hear what’s going to happen before you see it. sad!!
