You are assuming that the people who received bonuses served in combat positions. I have heard anyone claim that.

The NATIONAL GUARD IN CALIFORNIA overpaid, or incorrectly issued re-enlistment BONUSES! The Pentagon has already backed off on the take-back. This problem does illustrate some long-standing problems with the National Guard, in numerous STATE operations with their recruiters, and it’s a decades long problem!

We must all remember to give thanks to George W. Bush for his invasion of Iraq

And to the Republican Congress who legislated this time bomb that has blown up in the face of the National Guards who reenlisted.

Of course, the current Republican Congress could fix this before breakfast tomorrow, but they are in recess after those exhausting repeals of Obamacare.
