Doctor Toon – this probably means no more of your World Famous Nuclear Coffee. Or maybe one cup of that would take care of him for the whole day.

If one needs to cut down on the caffeine, best to do it by weaning one’s self off. Take longer to drink each cup, learn to drink water or something else instead. Cut down in increments, slowly. If not, you’ll have a massive headache, and who knows other withdrawal symptoms?

I start my first pot at 6AM and my last cup at 11PM. Coffee on and off all day long while working. That’s the norm but then there are some days when no coffee – just water or ??. Not addicted to coffee.

Drinking that much a day a cut back like that will give him big time withdrawal symptoms for weeks. Yes addiction withdrawal.

When my husband had to cut back we started by mixing regular and decaf half and half. We slowly upped the percent of decaf until he was weaned off. He still drinks multiple cups a day, but there is so much less caffeine in decaf that it doesn’t affect his blood sugar (he is diabetic and the caffeine was elevating his blood sugar.)

When I was in college, I had a friend that went cold turkey at the start of finals week. He said that while he was taking one test, he started shaking and breaking into a severe cold sweat. I asked him why he did not wait until the next week when there was no school at all.

He started drinking it again after he graduated..
