    lots of people have deviated septum. I have one No problem ever in last 55 years, did Army exercises daily for 6 years, did AF running and carrying around very heavy equipment. Never short of breath

    The septum is the cartilage between the nostrils in the nose. A deviated septum is one with a hole in the cartilage. That would not normally cause breathing problems while awake. Asleep at night is another story. My brother snores like you wouldn’t believe because of his deviated septum. Of course there are always exceptions, but unless the deviation is way back up inside the nasal passages, it wouldn’t cause a problem for a football player. It also would not be caused by a snowball to the face.
