Just curious, will someone please tell me how in any instance, what people did or didn’t do has anything to do with right or wrong now? Are we supposed to repeat history or learn from history. No one ever seems to know the answer to that.
Ken is right. If I or any of my ancestors ever committed a wrong, does that mean that I can never object to a wrong today? If it does, then neither can you.
You mean that guy who is a major stock-holder for Fox News?
“The wrongs of yesterday were wrong so why are you protecting the wrongs of today. ”
You mean like the religiously incited anti-gay violence? Well, you did say get excited about the wrongs of today! Right here, in our own country, we both raise our children to commit violence and kill our own citizens, because they were born differently.
The genocide was the direct result of “good Christians” being good Christians and saving souls, even if they had to kill the people to do it. (Father Serra was no better than protestant missionaries.)
If we can’t blame those who screwed up-“right or wrong”- 200 years ago, do we really have to pass on those leaders who committed errors and sins 9 years ago?
The dude/developer who actually owns the community center/”mosque” structure and land, is —-JEWISH!!
The guy who is a major stakeholder with Fox News, was friends with Bush, who tried to give money to the mayor of New York and the guy said “no way, I don’t like your ties!” – that guy?
dtroutman, if you’d read Google properly, you would have seen that it said that his father embraced the Jews he was held hostage with not that he was Jewish.
I saw the INTERVIEW WITH THE GUY! He points out HIMSELF that his wife is Christian, his Mom was Catholic and his father was Egyptian, and HE converted to judaism. Don’t need to google, I watched him interviewed in HIS WORDS!!
Just curfious as to how much of the freedom loving world would rant and rave when Moslems burn bibles. I do not agree with the burning of Quorans but I wonder why it is that everytime someone exhibits any anti-moslem feelings they are vilified as not patroitic. These people under the guise of their religion have attacked our country both literally and figuretively. Yet it is not PC to do other than accept it. WHAT ROT! How much longer do we allow these animals to knaw at our feet while we apologize for trying to stop them? Everyone rants that we can vote changes at the next election that will make the USA a better place. Again, WHAT ROT! As long as the choices we have are liKe the chameloen McCain, or the re-tread Gingrich, we will find ourselves in the same frustrating maze of he said she said that we now enjoy! SUCH A DEAL!
M Kitt, I believe that the misunderstanding is not with me but with your and your ilk. You ask if I know the differance between Terrorists and Religon. The question is moot when terrorists and religous leaders spew the same poison as is the Bible thumper planning on buring the Quoran. I think that it is interesting that terrorists use religon as a guise to promote their hatred…and it appears that you have been convinced of their lies. You implicate that I must be a Christian (End Times), you are correct, but I have yet to hear a sermon of hate preached in any congregation I have been a part of. With the goody-two shoes tripe that you are spewing, I ask you, “Waiting for the End Times?” Trying to be polite…
Actually, I’m confused. Is this cartoon saying that Middle-Eastern Muslims (as a whole) are just as guilty of the death of 9-11 victims as European Christians (as a whole) are for the death of Native Americans?
Or is Alcaraz saying that it is just as specious to blame European Christians for the death of American Indians (and the subsequent building of churches on their land) as it is to blame Muslims for the tragedy of 9-11 (and subsequently building an Islamic cultural Center 2 1/2 blocks away from the site of the devastation)?
Or is Alcaraz excusing the unintended collateral deaths of the falling towers on 9-11 in the same manner that Christians claim to be excused for the unintentional deaths of the bulk of the Native American population through contagious diseases?
Or is Alcaraz just saying “lots of people have died in the past and possession of the land has changed hands”? (Maybe he should have drawn a few more archaeological levels going further down.)
Personally, as someone who studies the history of the tragic consequences of the cross-cultural collisions which took place in California during the colonial era, particularly between Catholic religious communities and Indians, this cartoon simply leaves me befuddled.

The truth is grimly ironic enough – the WTC was built over a slave burial ground.

Jack – The Islamic Cultural Center is not being built by the Taliban. It’s being built by a moderate, American Muslim.

America is loosing its mind over 9/11.
A car bomb can kill a few dozen people, but what I see America loosing right now is way more important than life itself.
