AFAIK, the BP disaster has been directly responsible for eleven human deaths. It messed up the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands and ruined summer for millions, not to mention all the environmental damage, but let’s keep our numbers straight…

@olmail: You liberals will never get it right. We conservatives blame “W” just as much as Clinton for the economic mess which Obama is making far worse. I quit the GOP 7 years ago and vote strictly by person, not party. The Beck rally was about American fundamentals which drew 300,000 + at individual expense. The Sharpton hate rally drew about 3000 bussed in by the NEA at taxpayer expense.
Government regulation (meddling) is what caused the BP spill in the first place.

After all, the well’s been capped, there is no sign of the oil in the water anymore, the marshes are showing signs of recovery already and all the tests I’ve heard about have shown very promising results that the Golf coast is going to recover much faster than anyone thought possible. I’m not sure how many people actually blame Clinton “for everything” as olmail charges. I just want his apologists to stop crediting him for the brief budget “surplus” for which he does not deserve credit. He took office during an already rising economy (though still a little low at the time–giving him an excuse to renege on his middle class tax cut pledge) which continued to rise through most of his administration. NOTE: the news media celebrated the milestone when the rising economy became the longest continuous period of economic growth in history, but failed to mention that the start of the period they were celebrating was during the Reagan years. Then, if you are going to credit or blame any president for the economy, you really need to mention that the economy had already started its downturn before Clinton left office. The truth is that the current president at any point has very little control over the economy, but I am really sick and tired of Clinton being applauded for an economy that was already growing when he started in office and already starting to head in the other direction before he left office! Those are verifiable facts. (For the record, I am an Independent. I vote based on issues, not on parties.)
