If that’s actually true, then ‘Boomers’ (have always, always hated that stupid name for a whole generation of very diverse people who didn’t particularly demand to be born after WW II) are following the same tradition laid down by their predecessors…
In the future they will be mining the graveyards for the metals this generation puts in their spines and extremities. My wife has full spinal support rods (Harrington Rods) and various pins, rods, wires, bracing in her left femur where she broke it twice, within two weeks. Someone is going to hit the jackpot.

Had a cancerous tumor removed from my bladder this summer. That has to outdo hip and knee surgery, but heart surgery trumps that!
