That brings to mind my theory that the organization on “Doctor Who” didn’t get its name from “United Nations Intelligence Taskforce” or “Unified Intelligence Taskforce.” It actually came from exchanges such as this:
“You want who to face down that horde of Daleks, Brigadier?”
Actually the guy behind it sort of apologized – also the name would have to be accepted as well before “winning”. They aren´t that dumb as to pick any name chosen over the internet.
The internet still doesn’t have reliable user id verification. The best they have is ip address monitoring. All you can hope for is statistical regional sampling. Polls need to filter for oversampling and internet epileptic seizures.
Anyone allowing polls on the internet to make a decision for them should follow this cardinal rule: only offer choices you are willing to accept. They are lucky the winning entry was not something rude and crude.
It brings to mind two boats in Bermuda. One is “Pier Pressure”, the other is “Berth Control”.…“Boaty McBoatface”… Who knew there were so many Rip Haywire fans out there?

Well when they decided to crowdsource the name, what did they expect?

Some people still believe the old and disproven myth that the internet can be an exchange of intelligent information and views.

Check it out on CNN. Just the design of the boat would make Tonka proud. Both look with name just seem to fit.

No stranger a name than “Little Caesar’s Arena” for the Red Wings.
