Shouldn’t ALL students be dressed with helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, and other protection when in gym class? Few less chances of going to the nurse’s office.
Lio has to use armors a lot, doesn’t he? I remember a strip similar to this where he also used an armor, but it was while riding the school bus. It’s kinda surprising considering he deals with all kinds of monsters and supernatural stuff without any protection. Guess that gets to show you that a routine life is much more dangerous.
Kids are so soft nowadays. Why, back in my days, sonny, we had actual boxing as part of gym class, with actual bloody noses…. And, yes, it was all legal and proper and no one complained.

In some schools these days, the teachers should be dressed this way…

i hated dodgeball so much that i’d try to get hit right at the start so i could sit out the rest of the game… it’s a game greatly enjoyed by bullies.
