I’m surprised Sinatra just didn’t have Kitty Kelly taken out.

Man, my brother and his friends put together a band and drove me out of the house with their crap playing and really crap singing. This was in the “Glam Rock” era and high school. You could not get me to university fast enough!

I just love " BILL the Cat " on his tongue : )

Let us hope the literature “of some note” was not any that they were playing…

I really don’t know why but in all these years of reading Bloom County and Outland I had, for whatever reason, always assumed Rosebud was a girl. Wow. Better late than never, I guess.

Whatever . . . Rosebud’s choice of “literature” does leave somewhat to be desired.

This may be the last time anyone used “hottentots” in a semi-serious way. Turns out it’s majorly offensive.

“Courage” – Harold Arlen:

Dorothy – Your Majesty, If you were King, you wouldn’t be afraid of anything?

Lion – Not nobody, not nohow!

Tin Man – Not even a rhinoceros?

Lion – Imposserous!

Dorothy – How about a hippopotamus?

Lion – Why, I’d trash him from top to bottomamus!

Dorothy – Supposin’ you met an elephant?

Lion – I’d wrap him up in cellophant!

Scarecrow – What if it were a brontosaurus?

Lion – I’d show him who was King of the Forest!

All Four – How?

Lion – How? Courage! What makes a King out of a slave? Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage! What makes the elephant charge his tusk, in the misty mist or the dusky dusk? What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage! What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage! What makes the Hottentot so hot? What puts the “ape” in apricot? What have they got that I ain’t got?

All Four – Courage!

Lion – Then you can say that again!

Then he is attacked by Sinatra fan with a turnip twaddler!!

Literature. Heh.

Ah, Kitty Kelly, writer of trashy tell-all bios. . .

Whatever happened to Kitty Keller? Last I heard, after she had won her 2 Mann Booker awards and the Noble in literature, she had fallen into a deep Hemmingwayesque, drug induced, funk. Sad how fame crushes the artistic soul and leaves one a hollow shell of their former selves, with no way out but to seek a quick exit across the rainbow bridge. God bless you, Kitty and thank you for your contribution to our social and cultural mosaic.

oh Kitty Kelly.. I had mercifully forgotten about her.
