Ok, so are they civilian use hand grenades? Sentry bots? Small independent robots that run at the enemy at high speed and explode in their faces?

Some kind of stun grenade for personal protection (like mace)?

Interesting devices.Sold with the idea of personal protection.I would imagine APEX has the system rigged. Your personal buddiebomb could and will be used against you.

Given the “…you’ve got a buddy watching out for you.” jingle I’m assuming that these are some sort of security system that either lets you know when an intruder is working about or contacts the local police (or possibly APEX security forces)“APEX has never had a hotter item,” intrigues me. Has APEX managed to be successful in the consumer security device market? I have generally assumed that a military contractor would have trouble manufacturing products at a price point that consumers could afford. Still, Boeing has marketed military aircraft and civilian airliners, so this is not entirely without precedent in our world.

Based on what I read, Wally is a structural engineer. Some of the best demolitions people are also structural engineers. I wonder how well Wally knows about those things. He’s really regretting something. Maybe he’s remembering a newspaper article he read or worse, maybe something he was involved with.

I feel sorry for Wally as he sits there with his head in his hands like that. I wonder if he’s thinking of how much this Holly is unlike the one he thought he knew and loved, or if he’s just bothered by listen to these people who are so wrapped up in their own little world and oblivious as to what is to come. I wonder if he knows about these buddibombs and what part they played in the end of society.

I bet it’s some sort of free-roaming Hunter-Killer weapon designed to blow up would-be attackers. Because who needs a taser when you can have a seeking hunter-killer bomb.

I wonder if similar technology was used for more nasty applications? Wally was in action, and could have seen the more military version used for all kinds of badness. The most obvious would be “pacification” of civilians. And we already saw examples of mass exterminations. These things, sold as defenders could easily be re-applied as enforcers for whoever has control.

Could someone piece together this bit to the rest of the story for me please? I’m guessing there was a conspiracy to keep all of the lemmings quiet while quietly the evil plot that mouse-girl and Lyn know all about is being carried out by Apex.

It seems to even suggest that the friendly neighborhood gossips will be keeping tabs on our preggo mouse-girl too?

The tall woman on the second panel….somehow she reminds me of Kirby, especially if you take a look at the third panel. They’re crossing arms in a similar way.

Veteran- I like your guess about the virus versus Aimesworth. Perhaps the mutagenic/healing aspect was originally intended to keep the body one step ahead of the destructive effects. I still am holding out for the virus being a ideological genocide weapon gone wrong.

Y’know…if we accept the notion that Holly’s flashback monster attack took place before these events, well, then Holly knows the truth behind the rumors.

I wonder who might be spreading rumors, and what they’d be spreading them for. As someone has already pointed out, Holly has seen a monster, so she knows they exist. I think Wally is either horrified at the attitude of those in the walled community (since he knows what Apex was up to at that time); or he’s horrified at what he might have done while employed by Apex to help keep the general public in the dark. Unlike his companions, Wally knew this “gated community”, and knows what is going to happen to it. He knows what’s coming and it will be bad.

I still wonder if Sarah Battle is the one with the hairstyle. Before she and Jim mutated, Sarah was quite petite. She looks kinda devious in panel three. Imma also thinking all three non-Holly persona worked for Apex in some capacity, and their party was subsidized by Apex. That was a lot of alcohol on that trolley. While in the 1960s, some people did keep a stocked bar trolley, and only used what they desired at any event, that is still a lot of alcohol for three people.

Jenner has recommended the cartoon Swamp by Gary Clark. Wednesday’s strip has something that might fit into Endtown. http://emarketing.tubemedia.com.au/t/ViewEmail/y/94425A19382B6457/DB74F9663263BEC84E9AB52EF5D51DA2

Ohmygosh, can nobody see it? The strong resemblance btw the lady on the left in the 2nd panel, and Bisbee in the third? It’s the same woman! Same face, long neck, eyebrows furrowed.
