Rose is correct. Even commercial freezers are not frost-free. First, they cost a lot more to run, and second they “self-defrost” by constantly doing mini thawing sessions, which ruins the food you put in there to keep.

.If you defrost a freezer, you are letting the frozen goods thaw unless you instantly transfer them to a second freezer..A frost free freezer only heats the area where ice forms (the evaporator coil) and if done properly, only long enough to melt the ice and only as often as needed to rid the ice.. Generally speaking, this should be safer and more energy efficient than traditional defrosting..
