Job killer. Hmmmm. Wasn’t that your program from the first Bush administration, hmm, what was that called, now,…….the one that “would lift all boats!”, that one which would cut back illegal immigration, because it would raise the standard of living in Mexico,……that one which would transform Canada, the U.S. and Mexico into a solid economic block, able to compete with Europe & Asia………..the program which Ross Perot warned us all to stay away from,……OH! the North American Free Trade Agreement! Is THAT the job killer you’re referring to?
None of the GOP-stoppers is connected in any way to objective reality. I know a couple who insist this is absolutely the worst time in American history. I would have thought WWII or the Great Depression would rate up there, but no, they didn’t have a black president then.
“Controlling for other economic variables, our main findings indicate that political institutions fundamentally matter only for incipient democracies, and not for consolidated democracies. Political institutions demonstrate that consolidated democracies and political institutions are substitutes for determining economic growth. Consolidated democracies have already internalized the effect of political institutions. New democracies, on the other hand, need the effective and ostensive presence of political institutions. As a consequence, their impact on economic performance is more visible and necessary. The consolidation of democracy, therefore, downplays the importance of political institutions in relation to economic performance: once democracy is consolidated, and favorable institutional conditions for investments are provided, the importance of the political variable loses intensity.”http://www.brookings.edu/research/opinions/2011/01/19-political-institutions-pereira
Oddly enough Workforce participation rate is still less than at the end of Bush’s term so they must be “desperate economy” jobs where one person has multiple..Great job Obama! American Dream killer!
