off-brand imitation vanilla? shudder I use the real stuff, and usually the alcohol-free one. And I use several types of salt depending on what I’m cooking. Pink Himalayan salt is my everyday one
I’ll get generic anything-at-all but I only use one of two brand name flours. I make everything from scratch, including our bread, and it makes a difference. Oh! If I make a cake that needs icing, it has to be The Name Brand.
I buy a lot of store brand items and their quality is as good or better than the brand name things. Salt is one of them. However, there are some items that I insist on getting the brand name product for, having tried the store brand and found them inferior. The thing is, you have to try to know which is good and which is not. Worth the time and effort!
