Payne just gets dumber with this idiotic theme. 33 more dead ISIL folk yesterday, thousands of bombs dropped, to the extent the Air Force is running out. But, targeting as best as possible only legitimate targets, IS the smart way to go.

I think you lefties all missed the point. He’s saying that if the French had enacted gun control they would have disarmed the Nazis and France would have been liberated. Sort of like how well the strict French antigun laws kept arms out of ISIS’ hands.

If France had one attack like that every month it still would be less the the US gun death total.

Some people want to reduce gun deaths, and a bunch of zealots start screaming that they want to ban all guns. Hard to argue in good faith with a big lie like that.

Yes, people ought to be able to buy what ever they want. RPGs to make sure they can take out the bad guys, maybe some serious artillery for the fourth of July. Automatic weapons should be legal so people can defend their homes and mow down anyone who trespasses on their lawn.

Mr sandflea, apparently you have never listened to Diane Fienstien, Chuck Schumer or Barack Obama. ALL of them (and many others) have discussed outright gun bans numerous times..The American people have the right to own and carry ANY firearm currently carried by the American military. If we shouldn’t have them neither should they. There is NO intelligent reason to prevent the ownership of ANY firearm to a law-abiding citizen. If that citizen should abuse his freedom, laws are already in place to punish that behavior and they should be employed.

Mr. Ahab, There is no ‘epidemic of gun violence’. Gun crime rates have been steadily dropping since the mid 1980’s to the point where they are HALF of what they were then. The ONLY reason they are where they are currently is the rate of GANG violence since the mid 80’s has more than quintupled. Subtract gang violence from the stats and the US has a better gun crime rate than the UK. We do NOT have a gun problem, we have a GANG problem.

Jack: one of my “military style” weapons, a very effective one, was a Remington 700 BDL with bull barrel, it was selective, accurate, and didn’t produce “collateral damage”. Such accuracy is the better way to take out individuals, or small groups of “bad guys”. (btw; I still have a 700 BDL, but no bull barrel, and different caliber, a “military weapon” still I guess.)

It’s the news reports that the Air Force is running out of bombs to drop on ISIL, not just “viable” targets. They’re also asking for additional huge numbers of “Hellfire” missiles, which I’ve read have not gone up to $87,000 per missile instead of the old figure of “only” $78,000. Considering these are often used against single individuals, instead of an $8 .50 caliber round, the simple economics of our “war fighting” posture, is pretty stupid today.

My uncle and father-in-law were both wounded during the Battle of the Bulge, with Patten’s army. I’m a disable vet from Viet Nam, who did many, “other duties as assigned”. My son is a 13 year “ground Navy” veteran, also with severe disabilities now, who served in many places, also with those “other duties as assigned”.

We know how to fight wars, and win our own personal encounters, we’re here, the other folks who tried to kill us, as Jim Webb was criticized for, aren’t.

I much prefer that Obama keep the real target in mind, and enlist France, UK, Saudis, Iraqis, or anyone else living in THEIR region, to take on ISIL, and stop our recruitment efforts for ISIL, as Trump’s idiotic statements and publicity as “the American’s candidate” does.

Home grown nuts, like Aurora and Roseburg, are still a greater threat than the few nuts loyal to ISIL, or radical Islam, might be. The casualty numbers after 9/11’s singular massive attack, simply state that yes, potentially dangerous, doesn’t mean MOST dangerous. For most dangerous, we need to look at gang activity, and just plain loose nuts in the machine that is America today.

FEAR however, is the big enemy, and it’s interesting that every time Obama points this out, it is the “loyal oppostion” that keeps Henny Penny and Chicken Little, as terrified as possible.

To some owning and bearing guns is more important than the 30,000+ Americans who die from gunshots each and every year. This says a lot about their value system.

This also raises the question of just what is Payne’s value system …he isn’t stupid, so why draw such a misleading toon?

Myth #1: They’re coming for your guns.Fact-check: No one knows the exact number of guns in America, but it’s clear there’s no practical way to round them all up (never mind that no one in Washington is proposing this). Yet if you fantasize about rifle-toting citizens facing down the government, you’ll rest easy knowing that America’s roughly 80 million gun owners already have the feds and cops outgunned by a factor of around 79 to 1.

Myth #4: More good guys with guns can stop rampaging bad guys.Fact-check: Mass shootings stopped by armed civilians in the past 30 years: 0• Chances that a shooting at an ER involves guns taken from guards: 1 in 5
