I am looking at this cartoon: States are not castles and they do not have drawbridges or moats. So, Mr. Payne has chosen to illustrate a governor’s mind.?My guess is that several of the commenters did not pick up on this.
Listening to Fox News? What a futile activity. The sound track is hysterical nonsense, and the only reason anyone watches is the preponderance of long-legged blondes reading the spew to keep their aging audience tuned in for the commercials selling gold bricks and quack nostrums.
I see a lot of misconceptions on both sides. No governor nor state has the ability of preventing someone who is a citizen or legal resident of the United States from entering their state.Individual states do have some control over funds for programs that refugees might rely on for housing & food, since few will find jobs immediately or have large amounts of savings. So, governors can attempt to discourage refugees from living in their states. If the Syrians turn out anything like the Vietnamese & there is good reason to think they will, they are depriving their states of good people.
“Many of the governors who have put the safety of their own citizens ahead of Syrians are democrats.”Another factually challenged post from Bizarro World. All but one of the governors who has said they don’t want Syrian refugees or demanded a pause for review of the vetting process is a Republican.

These same governors would probably have turned back Italians, for example, because they know they were all Mafia! What closeminded crap.

It is this President who is spreading fear. His actions scare the hell out of me.

Good point, Uncle Joe. But, from the point of view of the Syrians, they’re getting an early warning of where nobody with any sense would want to live.
