Dill: Lightning bug, lightning bug, what are you thinking? Fly into my open hand, and do some fancy blinking! Glowing little firefly, floating through the night. Come and fill my open hand, with your uncanny light! Your taillight flickers off and on, as you flit about the lawn. Looking for a place to land? Park it in my open hand! None of my firefly calls are working. Maybe if I said PLEASE. Alice: Dill! You have to chase them. It's the rule! Dill: I said the magic word!

A firefly landed upon my palm it’s light glowing ever brightly. But when I clapped my hands with joy the mess was quite unsightly.

Gee, mom’s everywhere teach their kids “the magic word”, but I never knew it had such power over fireflies! Love the firefly calls too ;)

In past strips, Alice has demonstrated the ability to control bees and butterflies with her mind (butterflies can be surprisingly aggressive, at times), but it looks like Dill’s got her beat on the fireflies.

Look ahead 25 years, and think of Dill and Alices kids, with thier father’s sweetness, and thier mother’s wierdness. Petey and Viola’s kids will be basket cases, however.
