There is a gap between the highway bill and funding. Uncle Sam tries to jump it in a car. Uncle Sam: :Looks like Paul Ryan's speakership has us off to a flying start.
Wouldn’t be so bad if the Freedom 40 were not getting their ground to air missile ready to fire and take him out in mid flight. If he can manage to bring some sanity to the House, he can run for president next term.
The republicans don’t like paying bills—who does? But you don’t pretend they don’t exist. What I don’t understand is why can’t we muster just a little common sense to pay for our own transportation infrastructure? Raising the federal, gas tax a couple of pennies each quarter over 2-3 years would likely pay for the last three years of this legislation, and put us on a far more fiscally responsible path. This is just utterly stupid, ignorant, and typically hypocritical. The Republican Party, while claiming to be financially prudent has simply become the party of potholes AND war. Oh goody!

The objective is not to approve anything that might reflect favourably on the Obama administration. Approving road infrastructure spending could, guess what, improve roads and bridges, improve efficiency of the flow of commerce, lower the cost of transportation, put people to work in peaceful manufacturing, raise the GNP, raise wages, raise tax revenue, lower the deficit and the debt. When congress refuses to do this when interest rates are at an all-time low and the cost of capital is almost zero, is one of the most egregious errors congress is making. .Give congress and the presidency to the Dems and you may see progress.
twclixEvery time the motor fuel tax is raised a penny, the “awl bidness” raises the pump price a nickel. Wholesale price goes up, pump price increases immediately; wholesale price drops, pump price drops the next month – and they are buying it from themselves..twclixJust spend on infrastructure what we now spend on weapons that don’t work, forts in 150+ out of 200+ supposedly independent nations, and infinitely more generals than Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Iceland combined, which no one is threatening to invade.
We wouldn’t have so much debt if Reagan hadn’t raided so-called ‘entitlement’ programs (actually programs that we pay for in advance) to bail out his pals, and if Bush hadn’t run up trillions just to kill some people overseas. Of course, he left it off the budget so that Obama could be jeered at for having to account for it during his own term.
