Nearly everyone from the President on down is saying, “Somebody ought to do something about it.” But all I ever hear is the vague call for more “gun control.” Exactly what is “gun control?”

I think we can all agree that keeping guns out of the hands of psychopaths is a good idea. The question isn’t do we infringe upon people’s “freedom to shoot any and everybody that moves,” it’s how much invasion of privacy should we have into a person’s life to make sure he isn’t a psychopath?

Should you have to disclose your full medical, financial and criminal records? If you have ever been to a psychiatrist, you should not be allowed to own a gun. If you have ever taken anti-depressants or other mood altering drugs (including alcohol and marijuana) you should not be able to own a gun. If you have any financial problems (bad credit, underwater mortgage), you should not be allowed to own a gun. If you are gay and not out of the closet, this could be considered a compromising situation and you should not be allowed to own a gun. If you do not disclose all your passwords and accounts and turn over all your computer records, you should not be allowed to own a gun.

OK, maybe I am stretching the point, but I can’t find the point in the above where I can draw the line.

Moderate tranquility – dude in the recliner has been “shot up” on morphine.

Let anyone have as many guns, rifles, bazookas, etc., that they want. Harshly limit the ammo.Of course that creates another black market.

Well, you know, stuff happens.

When there are more mass shootings — and non mass shootings — it’s just, you know, a natural phenomenon and nothing can be done about it, or should be done.

Maybe sacrifice some goats or something in hopes of it not happening near you.

Actually the German people had PLENTY of guns. The guns were taken away from the Jews, because it’s hard to do a final solution if that solution is shooting at you..You guys are all about solutions aren’t you?

If liberals were as adamant about the second amendment as they are about the rest of the bill of rights, people would be required to own guns.

This is the same “pick and choose” philosophy used by conservative Christians with the Bible – I pick what I choose to believe in and ignore the rest.

There, I’ve done it – pissed off both right and left.
