Ted Rall for July 31, 2015
Transcript:
Police in Hammond, Indiana banned the appearance of a hologram at a hip-hop festival. (Police Officer: We don't cotton to that science fiction popular music mash-up malarkey.) Cops claimed the holographic projection of the rapper chief keep was an "unacceptable role model" that "posed a significant public safety risk." (Rapper: But... I wouldn't actually be there...?) This prompts the question: if the hologram got out of control. Couldn't they just take it? (Man: You coulda unplugged "me") Also, is there an even more ethereal projection format that would satisfy the cop censors? (Man 1: Now he wants to appear in astral mode)(Man 2: Still too close!)

It has nothing to do with the technology, it has everything to do with Keef opting not to perform in person because of outstanding warrants for his arrest in that city because of an ongoing DUI case. And he is seen to promote violence…despite the concert being a “Stop the Killing Now” benefit show, intended to raise money for Dillan Harris, a 13-month-old baby killed by a car fleeing a drive-by shooting that killed rapper Melvin Carr.

Of course nothing said about his outstanding arrest warrants that prevented him from appearing in person!

what is next? they start banning books, because imagination is dangerous and unacceptable role models. they start banning dreams? they already ban movies, art, music, literature, tv shows, internet, mass media, colleges, schools, etc…

Now if only black people could use holograms do their driving. Or walking. Or answering the door. Come to think of it, that’s an attractive idea to me, and I’m an old white guy.

No comment, but it’s nice to come over here just to get the taste of Ramirez out of my head.

@jrmermCould you please give one or two concrete examples of what you are talking about. Otherwise, it sounds like you are complaining that the right wing doesn’t rule the country and get their way in every situation. That would be ridiculous as Republicans control many state legislatures, the House of Congress, have more governors than do the Democrats and have a majority in the Senate.

Yep, Rall got caught lying about his encounter with the LAPD. The LAPD doesn’t usually get a decent shake at the hands of the LA Times, so they have no power to ban him from the paper. In fact, if they tried, the paper would have that on the front page in 100- point print.
He’s just another lying, self-aggrandizing, “journalist/artist”.

See Greg Palast for August 5. Pictures have surfaced showing Rall in handcuffs and a gathering crowed demanding his release – precisely Rall’s account and falsifying the LAPD version forced on the LA Times. Amazing what you can do with a police Glock in your back.
