There was a local grocery chain that used to have “Senior Citizens’ Day” on Tuesdays, in which the store would serve seniors coffee for a low price. There may have been other amenities; I’m not sure. My mother-in-law, even though she was a senior herself, would avoid the store like the plague on those days.
She explained it was impossible to shop there with all these people standing around in the middle of the aisle talking, totally oblivious to their surroundings. There were off in their own little world, and nothing else mattered to them.
Have you been to a Costco store around 11 A.M. and try to navigate through the areas where they are giving out food samples? I like samples too but I leave my cart about 10 feet away; away from traffic, and walk back to the sample area and at least be aware of others trying to get by.
Food “storied” don’t bother me….I learned how to navigate through them years ago when my wife didn’t drive and I went with her——now days, if they’re blocking the aisle, I first say “excuse me”….and I will say it a second time if necessary——then I ram the offending buggy with mine and go on through….

Be really Rude! Use the handicapped Scooter (that you don’t need) to block up those narrow aisles!

My daughter wants to design a t-shirt: Everything I know about driving I learned at the grocery store.

Whenever I encounter one or more other shoppers at the end of an aisle, I usually say “They really ought to put a stoplight at this intersection.”

I really enjoy the surprised smiles when I step aside to let someone else either get by or get to the shelves.

ExCUSE me! I have to peer closely at the shelves so of course I simply MUST leave my cart smack-dab in the middle of the aisle!

I’ve said it before and I’ll probably have to say it again, the more things change …
