Actually, if you aren’t smarter than average, why would we want to elect you? Not that there aren’t other factors.

History says we don’t elect people who are smarter, but rather we elect those whose stupidity is elevated above the common level and is transcendental in aspect so that it is unfathomable stupidity, a stupidity so pure that we must have faith in it if we are to have any love of self at all and still maintain that there can be a better world through blunt force trauma.

The worst are those who are lawyers over 60 – the sense of entitlement reeks. Having said that, Georgia’s Johnny Isakson is not an attorney but is as worthless as any leftist; think he was a real estate developer, and it shows in his votes.

Tom Clancy said the people he met in Congress were no smarter than the average truck driver. This not to put anybody down, rather the average truck driver is as smart as the average member of congress..What most of us lack, though, is experience in the politicking game, how to play without being thrown out by voters and grand juries.

C.S. Lewis once observed that the best argument for the British House of Lords was that it was made up of completely average and undistinguished people, basically a random selection of humanity.

Of course, then there’s “Lord” Moncton, the climate denier, who was ordered by the House of Lords to stop using that title.

Many years ago Gov. Al Smith of New York was running for re-election. During a speech a heckler yelled out, Tell ‘em all ya know Al, it’ll only take a minute. Smith yelled back, I’ll tell ‘em all we both know, it won’t take any longer.
