    Crisco works well. So does butter and dish detergent with water.

    My mother got mad that the wax flakes we used were garlic powder. My fanny hurt too much to slide after that.

    Waxed paper has the advantage of not messing up your clothes an you could control how much ‘slip’ you had on the slide. Just wish they made good, sturdy, real slides like they use to.

    i can remember a slide at our local playground that was at least three times as high as the 8 year olds who were sliding down it. nowadays, you’re lucky to see one six feet off tall.

    My dog Maiya loves to go down slides herself. All the kids get a kick out of it. But you’re right, yyyguy, they don’t make those big slides any more.

    We used waxed paper, too, and after several pieces it was the greatest run ever! It felt like we were on a launching pad. It was really fun.
