The weird new kid Sophie is really intimidating Alice in panel 3, but Alice’s report to Mom glosses over that with a bit of wishful thinking (“…we’re best friends!”)….

Actually, I think it is great that someone stood up to Alice. A little competition is a good thing. So is being called by your correct name.
