So what’s Val going to do with the thing now? Can’t donate it to a thrift store for some don’t have the policy of repairing broken items.

At one time the warranty was for a whole YEAR! Now it’s 30 to 90 DAYS. What does that tell you?

Some on-line stores have remarkable return policies, like Overstock.com. OK to return anything, no questions asked, within 30 days from date of receipt, with a prepaid UP label of $8.57. You DO have to keep an eye on the clock, tho.

What a coincidence. My Kurig broke down this morning, and the warranty recently expired. It’s almost like this stuff is planned to happen. It’s a conspiracy! :P

Of course, then she just would have been the kind of person who screams at a retail drone because she either doesn’t understand or doesn’t care that she’s harassing someone who makes less money than her and has no actual power for no justifiable reason.

Shop Kohl’s. They have a no time restriction, “No Questions Asked — Hassle-Free” return policy for all purchases made there. A week, a month, 6 months, a year, 2 years . . . it doesn’t matter — even if you don’t have a receipt.

Once I had a winter-holiday job at Maas Brothers, an upscale local chain. The day after Christmas was a madhouse. Someone brought in a piece of plastic junk, no receipt, and wanted his or her money back. Our manager said that the thing wasn’t even sold by our store.

Ah, yes, Val, the mirror can take a lot of abuse when you yell at it what you should have said!

I can remember seeing a guy trying to get a refund at Circuit City a number of years ago. When he said: “What about my Warranty?”, two Very Large “Sales Associates” appeared and took him by the arms, removing him from the store. As they passed Me, I heard one of them explaining that, if he came back and Persisted in Complaining, they would have him Arrested for “Disturbing the Peace” and Assaulting Them..There may be some connection between that attitude and the fact that the chain no longer exists..Cutting every employee’s wages by 15% and Firing 3400 of them in 2007 probably didn’t help much, either. .
