Two students walk toward the college of engineering when one notices a headline about a Picasso painting selling for $179 million. Student: But, now I'm considering the arts.
In THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF ALICE B. TOKLAS, Gertrude Stein tells of the period when she socialized with Picasso and many of the other artists of that time. Early in their careers they were overjoyed to sell anything, and Stein and her brother bought many of them for a tiny fraction of what they are worth today.
Back in the 60’s, it was believed that if you got a degree, you got a good job. So I got a degree in engineering, and it’s gotten me a series of good jobs over the years.
A friend of mine, not only got his degree, he went all the way to a PhD. It was in Ancient Greek Literature which I am sure satisfied him to no end. However, I don’t see a lot of want ads for experts in that field.
^Hit a ball with a stick three out of ten times and you’ll get just as rich, and be among the best on your field. Care to have a SURGEON with that record???
J. K. Rowling’s degree is in Classics. Jerry Brown was a classics student, also, though I don’t know if that’s what he got a degree in. And Vince Lombardi was a classics major, as well.
The way to get Rich as a Living Artist is to marry a Marketing Major who can get you into the “Right” Galleries. Oh, and take the Money and invest it in a nice Shopping Mall. Preferably as close as possible to a “well endowed” Gated Community. Just make sure the Art matches the Couch, the Carpet and the Curtains …

Yes, the art world needs a few more Jack the Drippers (Jackson Pollack).

Better hope he becomes a Picasso.
And not a Van Gough.

Feel free, except most painters – and artists in general – are not worth a cent prior to their death.
