Hmm…..never thought of it that way. I guess it was always green in my imagination when watching in B&W.

I suppose they looked B&W in the TV, but Popeye cartoons were first made for the movie theaters and were all in color, at least the ones I have seen. The ones specially made for TV (the ones that started with the King Features Syndicate horse logo and Popeye whistling his pipe) were in color too.

Funny, I don’t recall Wimpy referencing cheeseburgers, only hamburgers. Then again, I’m sure he wouldn’t object to extra toppings at all.

Is Phil always strong to the finish with Fritzie? Is it posible, Sluggo is Whimpy’s love child with Brunhilde(and a step sister to Ona?). More questions to ponder…

The whole world was in black & white until 1964. That’s what Calvin’s dad told him in “Calvin and Hobbes” years ago, anyway. When our sons were very little, I would tell them that and they would believe me, Pretty soon they realized it wasn’t true.

Wimpy always said. “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger today”.

And referring to the last panel …

It must be, Nancy, since your bow shot straight up off your head …
