And then 5 shots of whiskey to dull that pain. Beats the old “take 2 aspirin” routine.

My Mother once had chronic headaches. So I took her to the top headache specialist in Dallas (referred by Baylor Hospital). This character was dressed in a 3 pc pinstrip suit, smoking a curved stem, large bowled pipe and with a Sigmund Freud beard. In the early 1980s at 300 USD for a 30 minute session. He listened to Mom describing her symptoms, making “um hum” noises all the while. He told Mom that he couldn’t help her headache but that for $25, 000 he could check her into Baylor and teach her to live with the pain.I refused to pay his $300 “fee”. I soon got a letter from his brother, you guessed it, a high dollar lawyer in Houston, threatening mayhem. I fired off a letter telling him I had transcribed the complete “exam” and welcomed his lawsuit as I would love to have the whole thing read in court. Never heard another word.Oh, Mom’s headaches were cured by an old quack in Ft. Worth who came up with some kind of voo-doo acupuncture using electrical current and silver needles. He charged $25 each for 5 treatments, which was all that was needed. Baylor Hospital and other doctors are now using this method to cure chronic and migraine headache. It’s called TENS.
