Remember the days of having nothing in the freezer but stuff from the day-old bakery? Our kids thought frozen, dried out pastries were heaven!

Growing up we always got our rolls and such from the “used bread store”. Bread itself was homemade.

Day-old bread at the IGA - 2 for 29 cents. Wouldn’t last long for a family of nine. The good old 1950’s.

In the 60’s we used to go to the local bakery and they would fill a large flour bag with old discarded bakery goods of all kinds, for us to feed to our horses and calfs. Sure, they got SOME of it.

LOL, EarWash! We had friends who had owned their own bakery, and were actually apologetic, when they said the donuts they were giving us were day old!
