Why is Phil outside, looking in?

He was on duty and is just coming home:-o

One could posit that Wally reflects the Jewish community’s ongoing position within the mainstream white,Christian society, i.e. as the scapegoat, & that Phil, as a representative of visible minorities, is always on the outside, looking in. Or you might just say it’s a cute cartoon. Happy Easter/ Passover/Spring whatever…

My question to Jan is this: Is it Jan or the character who’s being clueless here? The Easter Bunny? Why not have him cooking the HAM?

Just one more rinsing of all real religious meaning from american life.

But if Anthea glossed it perfectly, then my props to the cartoonist!

Poor Wally; he gets to be the butt of so many jokes…

But see here, everybody, little Luci loves him! whatever he wears! because he’s a good man….

Wally’s reward for dressing in that costume is wrapped around his ankle.

He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny.

I think the strip is cute. The girls are obivously laughing they don’t have to dress like that. And here Phil is missing out and as a matter of fact so is grandma. Easter is almost over.

Looks like I’m not the only one that cought the real meaning of this strip. Many are the years I have put on the bunny suit for the kids. My best time was when my kids were little and they bragged to their friends “My Daddy is The Easter Bunny!”

Is anyone else getting flash-backs to “A Christmas Story”, with Ralphie’s Aunt Clara?

Aw, Wally, pink nightmare. I love it. He’s a good dad, and therefore he realizes that the EASTER BUNNY has nothing to do with a Christian Easter and everything to do with the fun of being a child. Even though he hates it, he’s making special memories for the kids.

Well, egbrown, why not make special memories for the kids that don’t insult his heritage and their mother’s? If Christmas and Easter are not Christian, what are they? If they are meaningless, perhaps the meaning needs to be restored.
