Spaceman Spiff: "Hmm, pull down "setting"...get the dialog box...click on "rays" select "death"... hit "ok." Hey, what's the matter? Why didn't my screen chance?!" Spaceman Spiff: "Hit "F1" for "help"... "about blasters"... nope... "calibrating blasters"...nope... "charging the fizzler"...no..."fizzling the charger"...no" "incineration guidelines"...oh, this is annoying!" Spiff: "Oh wait, I didn't enter the number of volts! That's it! Type in "gazillions" hot "ok" WHAT?! "Invalid setting" DARN! Go back to "volts," highlight "gazillion," press "delete." Type in..." Spiff: "SPIFF IS HIT! He's going DOWN!" Dad: "Hey, why don't this boot up? Has somebody been playing with this thing?!" Calvin: "The whole thing went down, dad. Luckily I jumped clear at the last second"

Looks like Calvin may have to jump clear a second time, in order to avoid being booted up to his room.Let’s see… I think I’ll post a couple of comic strips today using HTML…… Tum Te Tum Tum….. Type in “img src=”…….. no, wait, that should be “a href=” before using “img src=”…… forgot the left bracket……. gotta locate the image URL and then copy and paste it……. almost forgot to specify the width……. Why won’t this display correctly?…… Oh — I left out the second quotation mark……. Gotta put in the alternate name…. Almost forgot the “/a”…… Why can’t GoComics upgrade this thing to Fortran?…… It’s displaying the comic strip in black and white but I’ve got to go to a different year and date to locate the color version….. Now I’ve got to start the whole thing over for the second comic strip……. That one won’t display correctly at all……. Must be a bug in the GoComics software this time….. Gotta retype a portion of the HTML even though it was keyed in correctly….. What’s that smoke coming out of my computer? ….. No, wait, it’s coming out of my ears……

My (then) 2 year old cousin was pressing buttons on my laptop and I was terrified he was going to damage it somehow!I guess it was my own fault for lifting him up on my chair. xxx

@LeadingEdge: I included the Fortran reference because I knew some would get a chuckle out of it. Similar frustrations to HTML on GoComics — get one thing wrong, and your punch cards won’t run your program properly on the mainframe.
