Thankfully there’s somebody to stand up to the corrupt government unions and dirty trial lawyers who give hundreds of millions to the Dems every year.

Modern consumer advertising, based heavily in study of human psychology, has softened us up for the worst political buncombe.

Like any organization which has power and money, unions can be corrupted. They are certainly not the only examples.

But we are looking in the wrong place, in my opinion. What conservatives seem to dislike most: unions, regulations, and oversight, would not be necessary if people were honorable and treated others with reasonable respect.

I find it both unfortunate and amusing that most people spend at least a few hours every week being told (and agreeing with the message) that they should not do to others what they wouldn’t want done to them, and then spend the rest of the week doing the exact opposite. We can find many examples where people work tirelessly to improve short-term economic gains, which at the same time screw their fellow-man in the long term, yet they consider themselves to be good Christians/Jews/Muslims/whatever.

Until people take those weekly sermons to heart instead of just making sure others see them at the right place at the right time, society will require what conservatives do not seem to want. If there is no responsibility, there must be accountability, whether you like it or not.

Rad-ish GoComics PRO Member said, about 8 hours ago “The free speech of money, thanks right wingers.”-The Founding Fathers are now called “right wingers”?-But the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution was quoting God’s scriptures to justify a system of FREEDOMin a new kind of government that acknowledges God-given rights and freedoms.-Why is it that the so-called “liberals” and leftwingers post messages that automatically defend the totalitarian regimes and attack the democratic freedoms systems that defend Liberty? (USA as founded and the democratic State of Israel)-2014, the moles and termites of politics use Media to trash defenders of the USA’s original government; and use riches of those who used the freedoms to build wealth but support the saboteurs of the Godly original setup. As scripture foretold, the evil people reverse the meanings of “good” and “evil”….rewrite history to suit their current fads….invent false “enemies” like the non-existant “global warming” (scientific data show no warming for 18 years!).

Some of the sleaziest commercials (some funded by the Kochs) can be seen in Kansas these days (or in Kansas City, unfortunately!) Pat Roberts, in office for over 30 years with no accomplishments that even Kansans can identify, and desperate to hang onto his power, has resorted to blatant bigotry in his most recent commercials. As for Sam Brownback, he seems to take an almost sensual, indeed almost a sexual pleasure in lying about the state’s budget and finances.

Without trial lawyers, we wouldn’t have to face up to the number of times the State has mistakenly sentenced innocent people to life or death, and we could believe that all is well.

“There is no poison doughnut, sir. Our lawyers said it was murder.”“DAMN their oily hides!”

“As for Sam Brownback, he seems to take an almost sensual, indeed almost a sexual pleasure in lying about the state’s budget and finances.”.I haven’t heard those commercials, but many political attack ads in my state are also weirdly sensuous. Are they meant to appeal to women — or men?.I am curious why the sleaziest mud-slingingest political ads often have female voice-overs with suggestive undertones of “pillow talk.”

It appears from the cartoon that the answer to the reporter’s question is “because they are engaged in political speech with which I disagree.”

@emptc12(And let’s hope that Oliphant comes back soon!)In Brownback’s case I wasn’t thinking so much of the commercials for him as he himself. You do make an interesting point about the sensual flavor of a lot of political commercials, or even the “pillow talk” flavor of some. For some reason, conservative women on discussion panels need to be attractive blondes—part of the same thing? For a more overt sexual flavor to attack ads: in Kansas, Congressman Kevin Yoder is running for re-election. (He didn’t say why.) A few years back, he and some other politicians were on a junket to Israel, paid for by lobbyists who were looking to get a nice little return on their investment. He and his fellows AND the lobbyists all got drunk and went skinny-dipping in the Sea of Galilee. The current attack ad run by his opponent features “nude” people (with strategic blockings) talking about this, all sitting around a swimming pool and talking about what Yoder has done in his spare time between skinny dips. If I knew how to post it in here I’d do it, it’s hilarious.

I think it’s a fair contest. If we can’t see through a bunch of BS that a few rich people are sending our way we don’t deserve a Democracy. Benjamin Franklin said we could have one if we could keep one. But, I think our rich friends will see, as the leaders of the Soviet Union did, that the truth will out no matter how you spin it in the propaganda. My prediction is that things will go on this way until one day they don’t.

" But that is what your masters want, and you allow them to tell you what to think instead of doing it for yourself. It’s just so much easier to parrot the party line than to come up with an original thought.".Wow, maybe you want to look at yourself before you start to insult other people. All your posts have done nothing but parrot the liberal left line.

distgusted might want to note that the modern state of Israel was founded prmiarily by Russian immgrants, who were Communists, as in “kibbutz” and the fact that industry such as Israeli Defense Industries was only very recently allowed to privatize as state ownership was the norm of all industry there.

It’s also interesting that Kochs bought Georgia-Pacific so they could sell toilet paper, to address their “politics” and their candidates.
