Actually, very sweet.

Arlo has not realized yet that Janis uses a manikin when she goes out for a wild night.

As usual, J.J. has hit home with this one. As one gets older, uninterrupted sleep becomes less and less common. In our house, if one of us wakes we will get up to keep from disturbing the other.

Hand needs to be underneath the covers

Hubby does this, wakes me up…then I am awake. and I get up.

His hand is backward? Which way is he sleeping?

kind of weird like he can’t sense her other than by grabbing. where did he expect her to be? bed checks are done when you think someone might not be in their bed.

Is he facing the wrong direction?

Yup I wake up in the wee hours, reach over and pat my wife a couple of times, then go right back to sleep happy, and content. I guess it just comes with age and a long marriage.

Ah! One of the joys of a long-term marriage.

We have both done this. It’s not a heavy slap, just a simple pat. Yes, you know she’s there, but it feels good to check. As for Arlo’s position, he is on his left side, with his back to Janis. He’s patting her by reaching his right hand behind him.

Hubby and I do this all the time.
